To assist in conserving water in the Narromine Region, level 2 Water Restrictions are being enforced from Monday, 7 October 2019 in Trangie and Tomingley.
The Level 2 Water restrictions apply to all water users in Trangie and Tomingley including residents, visitors and businesses who receive water from Council's pressurised reticulation network.
The restrictions are in accordance with the 'odds and evens' scheme and will remain in place until further notice. The 'odds and evens' scheme refers to house numbers and the date enabling residents to water every second day. If your house number is an even number, you are able to water on even dates e.g. 2nd, 4th, 6th of the month. If your house number is odd, you are able to water on odd dates, e.g. 1st, 3rd, 5th of the month.
"These restrictions are essential to reduce the demand for treated water to ensure water quality and availability for our residents," said Jane Redden, Narromine Shire Council's General Manager.
"While it is not possible to predict the length of time the restrictions will be in place, Council will continue to monitor water levels and will keep the community up to date with any changes" she said.
"The level 2 water restrictions introduced in Trangie and Tomingley will join the current level 3 water restrictions in place in Narromine"
Businesses in the Region are encouraged to complete a Water Saving Action Plan on Council's website to assist in identifying ways to reduce their water consumption.
"The Water Saving Action Plan will assist businesses in reducing their water consumption and is intended to save businesses money" she said.
"The plan assesses your water usage, identifies ways to reduce water consumption and provides actions for communicating your water usage plans"
Water usage, compared to 2018, has reduced by 10% in Narromine and for that Council would like to thank the community.
"Narromine residents have done a great job in reducing their water consumption since the introduction of water restrictions and with the help of the community we are hoping to reduce usage by another 5%" she said.
Clause 137 of the Local Government (General) Regulation 2005 allows for restrictions to be imposed if Council deems it necessary but we are really appealing to the community to take responsibility and do their part to assist in conserving water.
