Planning Portal prepares for lodging of DAs to commence on 1 July 2021
From 1 July 2021, all Development Applications within Narromine Shire Local Government Area must be lodged through the NSW Planning Portal in line with State Government legislation.
The Planning Portal has been developed as the central electronic platform for all councils across NSW to receive applications.
This mandatory change applies to all individuals, organisations or industry professionals, from home builders, to certifiers, project developers and government agencies.
Narromine Shire Council General Manager, Mrs Jane Redden said Council has been in a training and transition phase to ensure the internal processes are ready for the change.
Applicants such as builders, designers, architects, and Housing Industry Association (HIA) are aware of the new process, and a number of them are already using the Planning Portal. For the broader community, it means hardcopy applications, even if it’s just for a one-off project such as a new shed or pergola, will no longer be accepted at Council’s Customer Service Centre from 1 July.
The new online portal enables people to access planning services and
information from anywhere, at any time. The system is much more convenient
than the paper-based transactions, with applicants being able to submit and
track their applications 24 hours a day, seven days a week added Mrs Redden.
Council is encouraging residents to talk to their builder or designer and seek assistance with lodging an application as they may have the experience with the Planning Portal process. This will apply to the lodgement of Development Applications (DA), Modification to Consent, Construction Certificates (CC) and Complying Development Certificates (CDC).
The portal also contains a comprehensive collection of resources that will assist applicants and developers with Quick Reference Guides, fact sheets, useful links and much more.
For information on how to register for a Planning Portal account, Quick Reference Guides, fact sheets and links to other resources visit
www.planningportal.nsw.gov.au/support/applicant-resource or contact Service NSW on 1300 305 695. Residents can also visit Council’s Customer Service Centre at 118 Dandaloo Street, Narromine or phone Council on 6889 9999.
