Narromine’s Shire Wide Network Connectivity Solution is a Success
Narromine Shire Council and Field Solutions Group have successfully received $1.6 million funding from the Federal Government’s Regional Connectivity Program to ‘connect’ the Narromine Shire Local Government Area.
Mayor Narromine Shire Council Clr Craig Davies was delighted to receive the news that the connectivity project is to be fully funded.
Clr Davies said, ‘Narromine Shire Council understands how critical connectivity is to enabling innovation and economic development for our rural businesses and we can contribute to a solution of offering Shire-wide reliable connectivity together with the Federal Government and Field Solutions Group.’
‘Field Solutions Group has successfully provided Moree Plains and Narrabri Shire Council areas with a comparable initiative that has significantly improved connectivity and mobile phone coverage over a very large footprint.’
‘This sort of connectivity will enable businesses and industry growth, economic benefits and many great opportunities as the Narromine region is poised to benefit from a growing demand in agricultural and related industries, added Clr Davies.
The plan is to provide reliable, high-speed broadband and connectivity across the entire Shire with the construction of 5 new towers and the use of an existing Council asset. This will complement the 3 new towers that are to be constructed at Gin Gin, Nevertire and Mullengudgery funded by the Federal Government’s Mobile Blackspot Round 5 in 2019.
