Narromine Region successful with $3.8M in funding allocations and grants

Narromine Shire Council has recently been successful in receiving over $3.8 Million in funding allocations and funding grants through the Federal and State Governments.

Council was recently successful in the following grants;

• Regional Airports Program (Federal Government) – Council was successful in receiving $419,750 of a $839,500 project for fencing, windsock, runway and taxiway lighting repairs.
• Murray-Darling Basin Economic Development Program (Federal Government) – Council was successful in receiving $450,000 to provide light aircraft hangars to attract aviation related businesses.

Narromine Shire Council’s Mayor, Cr Craig Davies said “it is great to see Council being successful in a number of grants and funding allocation”

“The $3.8M is being spent on community, business development and infrastructure which will encourage further private investment in the Region”

“The funding will assist in positioning the Narromine Region as an aviation and business hub and will continue to improve community infrastructure including roads, drainage, outdoor shared spaces and sporting facilities” he said

The Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program (Federal Government) and Resources for Regions Program (State Government) are allocated to Council’s to assist in fast tracking infrastructure projects. The two programs total over $1.5M and will include project such as;

• Tomingley drainage upgrades
• Cale Oval new club house, fence replacement, spectator hill and improved parking and traffic management
• Signage – renew high priority signage
• Trangie Cemetery Tree removal and replanting
• New pool liner and tiled surface at Narromine Aquatic Centre
• Tomingley multipurpose court

The successful funding allocation and grants are scheduled to be finalised by the end of 2021.
