Funding for a new Industrial Estate planned at Narromine has recently been confirmed, and planning work is now well underway.
A $9 million grant from the State Government will allow Narromine Shire Council to undertake the site enabling works, including the road network, electricity supply, potable water, and other necessary site works.
Mayor Craig Davies has welcomed the completion of the deed process.
“This is great news for the future enhancement of the Narromine region’s economy. This type of growth is essential for future diversification of our area, as we look to welcome new business and allow for the growth of existing businesses,” he said.
“This has been a lengthy process with the funding granted under the previous Government and now confirmed by the new”.
The chosen site is adjacent to the Materials Distribution Centre under construction by ARTC and next to Inland Rail.
The 100HA industrial site is planned to be developed into 28 industrial lots ranging in size from 4000m2 to 20HA. A number of the lots are 3HA in size to allow for medium-sized industrial use.
Member for the Dubbo electorate Dugald Saunders has also welcomed the funding confirmation.
“I’m really pleased to see the $9 million from the ‘growing local economies fund’ we’d approved under the previous coalition government has now been signed off’ he said.”
“I look forward to seeing work progressing on this important project for the Narromine region, and I know this new industrial estate will provide an uplift in new and diversified business opportunities, which was the main driver behind the fund originally.”
Planning for the precinct is expected to take twelve months with works scheduled for 2025.
