Media Release - Memories of her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

Narromine Shire Council has offered its condolences to the Royal Family and the people of the United Kingdom on the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

The Australian Flag at Council Chambers has been lowered to half-mast since the official announcement of the Queen’s death and will remain at half-mast until today, 20 September 2022.

Mayor of Narromine Shire Council Clr Craig Davies said, “Council acknowledged the Queen’s death at last week’s Ordinary Council Meeting with one-minute’s silence to reflect on her life and her legacy.”

“It is a very sad time for our community and for communities across Australia and the Commonwealth as having been a Sovereign for such a long time, Queen Elizabeth II has been a huge part of the lives of generations of people,” Clr Davies said.

“There are still residents who were among the many lining the streets to welcome the Queen and Prince Phillip when they visited Dubbo in February 1954 and again in 1992 as part of their Royal Visit to Australia.”

“It was a very exciting time and very fond memories, for those who were here to see it.”
