Level 1 Water Restrictions start Friday 16 October

As weather conditions continue to improve, residents in the Narromine Shire can enjoy Level 1 Water Restriction from Friday, 16 October 2020.

Level 1 water restrictions include;

• Watering of lawns and gardens – water systems, drip systems, soaker hoses, non-fixed sprinklers and hand-held hoses between 6pm & 9am
• Garden water features and ponds – permitted
• Irrigation of new turf – permitted for one week after laying
• Washing down walls and paved surfaces – permitted with a trigger hose
• Filling and topping up private swimming pools – permitted
• Washing cars at home – permitted with bucket and rinse with trigger hose on lawn
• Baths, showers, washing clothes, use of evaporative air conditioners and children’s pools - permitted

Narromine Shire Council’s General Manager, Jane Redden said “The improved weather conditions has meant that community demand has dropped which means we can reduce the required water restrictions on residents”

“The ongoing drought conditions identified the need to secure water for the Shire with Council commissioning a temporary treatment plant near Narromine. This allows Council to treat water from our deep bores to meet water quality requirements and our peak demands” 

“I would like to thank the community for their patience and due diligence throughout the ongoing drought conditions for the last few years. However, residents should remain vigilant with their water usage” she said.

Council will continue to monitor the water levels in the Narromine Shire.
