Dundas and Payten Park at the heart of Narromine

The heart of Narromine is about to become even more enjoyable with a Plan to create an integrated sport and recreational precinct at Dundas and Payten Park for residents and visitors of all ages and abilities.  

The consultant Yonder Landscape Architecture has supplied Council with a draft Precinct Plan after receiving an overwhelming response from the community via surveys and drop in sessions during March 2023.

“This draft Precinct Plan will now be on exhibition for a period of 28 days and Council encourages park users and the wider community to provide comments on the proposed recommendations included in the draft Plan,” said Narromine Shire Council’s General Manager, Jane Redden. 

Some recommendations include: 

• new amenities for athletic, soccer cricket users;
• a tree replacement and planting strategy;
• signage and safety improvements with lighting, CCTV, shade and traffic calming measures along Nymagee Street;
• a water play zone;
• improvements to the skate facility, pathways, drainage, furniture and defined parking; and
• a ninja course for kids

Council advises that this will be a staged redevelopment process and will be dependent on the availability of funding, added Mrs Redden.
